Hello πŸ‘‹.. I'm Lawrence (Larry) Skeie and I live in Centralia Washington. Time marches on with or without ya. Turned 63 this year, not in a thousand years would I have imagined my life as it's become. Fished my entire life..up until about 2008-2009. Events beyond my control and seemingly unchanging to this day. Construction for 35+, disabled in August 2001, you know, I'm picturing you who's reading this have gone through your own trials and tribulations. We're God fearing Christian's. We are Brother's and sisters and thus commanded to love as loved, believe in the Father in seeking His promise of eternal peace with Him. I think I've got all that happening. I meant this, I'm fighting for my life! Slowly over the past decade.. these "events" multiplied. Health wise for the most part, I was admitted to Providence Hospital Centralia a few weeks back, had surgery to scrape the dead black charred skin from the bottom of my left foot. I moved here from Longview in 2018. It had been many years since I had a pole in the water now so I applied online for a fishing license for a special needs, a (disabled fishing license). 2019, 2020, 2021. Three straight years went by, not once did I receive a response from the department of fisheries, nor any other departments. Family losses hit home hard. If any of you lost a loved one to covid, or lost someone for any reason really..God Bless You and may God calm and restore your heart's. I NEED TO GO FISHING! I imagine everybody has a fishing buddy these days. I went through hell, moved here to start fresh, get away from my old place. From the haunting memories it kept. I can walk much much better than ever but still carry my old cane. I WANT TO GO FISHING and I'm hoping that one of you listening to this plea notifies me and says hey Larry, this is..so and so, I'm going fishing in an hour, a couple days, or next week, would you like to go? Yes is going to be the response. I'm pretty smart, I know how to fish, I've got my gear and an awesome fishing pole. And my license, card, permit etc. I'm fighting hard to stick around for awhile longer, it's overwhelming on my own. I want to get out of the house when I want to. Appreciate ya all who read this far, I'm happy knowing you that did believe in God and and living in faith. Thank you for your prayers.. Larry Skeie

Hi Larry!
I’m Randy, and I live in Lawrence, Kansas. I’m 68 years old. We have many good folks that live on the west coast, including Washington and Oregon. Hopefully some of them will be along and respond to you. I am also a Christian and pray that you will be able to go fishing soon.

We just need to PM and trade numbers etc. It is the off season except for crabbing in my opinion. There is steelhead to target but harder for disabled guys.

To get disabled permits one needs to basically go to one of the main F/Wildlife offices. I have one in Oregon. I should jump through the hoops in Washington. Basically you get a form from F/W and a DR has to sign it.

Sorry I can’t help other than my prayers are on the way!

Hook up with Jeremy. If he says he’ll take you fishing I guarantee he will make it happen. That’s just the kinda guy he is!

Dang Larry, I sure hope you find someone. If I still lived in Chehalis, next door to you, I would help you out, but I am now a fair ways north and in my 8th decade, don't do that amount of driving anymore. Did you ever get your disability License? Did your Doctor provide you with documentation to send to the state? Hang in there buddy. What kind of fishing are you geared for, trout, Steelhead, Salmon, bank, boat?

Larry, if you wish to drive to Lake Washington you can go out of my pontoon with me. I just moved to Washington in October and found a marina slip for my pontoon in Mid-November. I left a few days later for three week vacation in Chicago with my grandchildren.

So while I have a slip and a pontoon on Lake Washington I have not fished the lake yet. I will be fishing for crappie, rainbow trout and yellow perch. If these species interest you, PM me and we will arrange a date and time to meet.

This invitation is open to anybody else on this forum who would like to go out on a fishing trip with me. Just PM me.

Be sure you read up what the state says about eating different species caught in Lake Washington for Health risks. Remember reading it somewhere a week ago. Probably because homes, businesses and roads/highways encircle the lake.

Thanks. I am aware of the health restrictions. For some reason, those restrictions don't seem to impact crappie as much as it does other species.

Lake Worth Texas, where I kept my pontoon, had the same restrictions as Lake Washington on eating fish from the lake but did not have any restrictions on eating crappie caught from that lake.

But it really doesn't matter to me as I am primarily a catch-and-release fisherman. I am also not a trophy fisherman, I love the trump of the bite and fighting crappie. I would rather catch 200 small crappies than just catch 2-3 trophy crappie per day.

I only keep 2-3 crappie per week to eat. That amount, and my age (79), should make it safe for me to eat any crappie that I catch from Lake Washington.

But I appreciate your advice.

Blessings to you my friend.
I completely understand what you are living through.
I just turned 66 yesterday. I've had heart surgery, and back surgery since 2017.
I love hunting and fishing but something changed inside me after heart surgery in 2017.
Nothing not family, friends, work could stop me from hunting or fishing. This heart surgery thing did.
