We are now two year residents of Orcas and would like to start learning about good places to fish. We have a small inflatable boat with a trolling motor. We'd like to do some winter fishing on Cascade this weekend and then eventually get to know where/how to fish in the Sea Acres/Pea Pod area near where we live.
We'd love any recommendations for winter fishing in Cascade including locations, bait/lure, times, weather conditions, etc.
Thanks!
Brett and Suzette
Orcas are catch and release only😁
Well that is very important for us to know! Truly appreciate the info.
Thanks!
Aaaaaah, I think you were making a joke....which I totally missed with my first quick read.
If we run into that situation I'm pretty sure we would not be released! Ha!

Yes. A play on words of Orcas Island and commentary on your boat.
Welcome to the Stage. There are a lot of Stagers in the North Puget Sound. Hopefully they can help you. I can’t help with info in your area. Most of my salt water fishing was in Tacoma/Pt Defiance.
Good luck. Be careful with a small boat in the salt.

Would also suggest a large bait like seals and pretty sure the Orca will self release after its eaten the seal.
That all depends on who is doing the catching. If it is Orcas doing the catching, I don't see them releasing you, however, I could be wrong.

My response to that is if the orcas are fishing,I sure as heck aint swimming!!!
On ORCAS ISLAND I use the method of a hook with squid or flounder 8 inches of leader to a swivel then a slip lead (egg lead). Drop to bottom then crank a half turn up. You will get Cabazon, or flounder, or dog fish. If you troll with a green or blue lure you could get a cutthroat in shallow water at high tide just before slack to 10 minutes after. ( don’t hurt it and throw it back)
Yep the cutthroat are a beautiful fish !!
Fishing for Orcas the seals and porpoises seem to be doings well as bait. During the fall the salmon runs seem to be nutritious
