Called the insurance company today. They are waiting for the readings from the cars black boxes that recorded the impacts.
They said that she is claiming all kinds of body injuries.
They have to review the medical report from her doctor.
They said that it could take months.
I wonder if they find that she lied that they can file charges against her.

Man this whole situation is SAD! You might want to check to see how to insulate yourself from liabilities
Sir. Idk anything of the accident, but I do know the carrier can and often does go after claimants that have 3 or more " red flags" arise during the course of the investigation.
A way of insulating yourself from a civil suit is to stay on top of the investigation. Be proactive with the adjuster and quiz him/her often regarding the "feel" of the direction the investigation is going. If you sense the carrier is going to deny in whole or in part of the claim, you have the right to file a suit against the claimant for suspected criminal action.
This is in no way to be considered legal advise, but a nudge for you to do your due diligence to protect your assets.

Larry, I must have missed your post about the accident. I'm lost on this post.

Awhile back my wife was making a right hand turn and swung wide into the other lane and clipped the other car, no bents.

Got it Larry. Now I'm on the same page.
In many states there is the right for you to tell your insurance company to settle the claim against you within the policy limits. If yo are sued and a verdict is in excess of your coverage then they have to PAY THE EXCESS. Go see a lawyer and check to see if this applies in your state and with your policy.
