Hey y’all. Been bass fishing over a year now and having really gotten into it. Upgraded from my cheap spinning combo and have a baitcaster set up but want another spinning rod and reel for finesse fishing.
What spinning rod or reel have y’all used that you’d recommend?

Pflueger president spinning reels are supposed to be really good

If it's for fresh water only yes, if you want one for both shimano nasci or daiwa bg

Just an fyi Pfluegers are vey low ratio reels across the whole line, not ideal for fishing plastics and jigs imo. Very well made though and fine for cranks and jerks and slower constant retrieve presentations

Powell inferno paired with a Lews Crush speed spin or Abu Revo X will put you right on the 200.
If that's too close to the limit I would spend more on the rod than the reel. I have a Stradic Ci4 and can't tell much difference between it an less expensive models. But I can tell which rod is better.

I’ve been blown away by how nice my Dobyns Fury is. I have 7ft medium I mainly use for bass fishing (drop shot, Texas, Carolina rigs etc)

I've caught some really big fish on cheap Wal-Mart rods and reels. I fish mostly salt water but use the same rods for fresh water. I have top quality gear also but it isn't necessary unless you're going off shore. Mike
Pflueger President very good and good price.
Fenwick and Shimano. You need to choose the length and weight that suits you.
Penn Battle 3000 is a great all around combo, available at Bass Pro and other bait shops, for the type of fishing you anticipate.

I will agree with you on this comment! I have an ugly stick gx2 and I absolutely love it!
Fenwick Eagle rods are around $60.00 and I love my ultralight one. The top line Fenwick HMG is about a hundred bucks, and I like them very much as well. And I've gone to Pfleuger Supremes for a hundred bucks. Have a few older Shimano Stradics, but now that they are $200, I don't think they are worth the cost.
You can buy a Penn Battle combo on sale for $99.00 to $129.00. They practically give you the rod when you buy the reel.
