So true. The Giver of all things and things yet to come. Amen
Amen, Troy!
I watched a message by Jentezen Franklin this morning about the importance of giving God the glory/thanks for all He gives us. Here is the scriptures/text and comments from modern day researchers I found on the subject
(Herod) of his sermon.
It’s a great example of how “pride goes before destruction”, and why we should be careful to not take all the credit for things we do, when it is really God who gives ALL good things.
“Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they sent a delegation to make peace with him because their cities were dependent upon Herod’s country for food. The delegates won the support of Blastus, Herod’s personal assistant, and an appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them. The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!” Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.”

Give God the Glory
Researchers Diagnose Herod the Great

Jan. 25, 2002 -- He was a ruthless man who died a miserable death.
More than 2,000 years after Herod the Great succumbed at age 69, doctors have now settled on exactly what killed the king of ancient Judea: chronic kidney disease complicated by a very uncomfortable case of maggot-infested gangrene of the genitals.
(This is quite graphic, but it’s Biblical)
It gives us an idea of how serious God is about pride. After all, Satan was kicked out of Heaven for that very reason!
Pay particular attention to verses 17-18 below.
“When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock! He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.”
