I believe your topic says it all. Try asking Admin for a more specific answer though.

I’m. Ew to Florida also. Haven’t found much on fishing st Pete other than skyway pier.
I’ve been there twice with minimal action so far.
If you do find a good area keep in touch.

In my opinion, just look for grass flats and mango trees on a rising tide and cast, cast, cast that plastic till you get bit!!!!! Always works for me.

You can try the different passes as well - Blind Pass, John's Pass, and Passa Grill. Beach fishing is pretty good as well.

Been fishing at Pete for almost 15 years and I'm still learning the hot spots, techniques, and bait selection. Last few year have been tough to catch anything decent. Skyways hit or miss, two nights ago there was nothing but bonnet head sharks until 9ish then caught a few under slot guys. Other area like veteran's park had some action but the no seeums ate us alive. Someone had mentioned reds are up and down the beaches... larger finger mullet should work, I'll try to get out there and see for myself. Red tide is present not far off the beaches....

I saw several dead black drum on Redington Shores a week ago. Red tide there must be significant as I was coughing a lot, and had stinging eyes. No fun! Do you know if they’re using live or dead mullet for the redfish?
