I was in high school and took a girl on a date. It was wintertime and must have been December or January. Unfortunately, I do not remember the occasion, the girl's name, or for the first time, if not the only time, I was about to panic! Here is what anything. I was and still am somewhat traumatized by the thought of what might have happened. This is as close to being panicked as I have ever been!
After the event, we drove out to a secluded spot about a mile out of town. There was the main road that crossed a small stream, but just before crossing this stream, there was a side road that was both remote and secluded off the main road. An ideal place for a couple to park.
We were cuddled up, playing a little ‘kissey face’ for a while with the car’s heater running, but had the engine turned off. After a while, I decided it was time to take her home and tried to start the old 1934 Ford.
It wouldn’t start, I had run the battery completely down! Now, this is before any thought of a cell phone, there’s nothing around and for a minute there I thought we are going to have to walk all the way back to town.
In addition to calling her parents to come and get her, there was the problem of my getting the old Ford running so I could make it home. All that and it is probably around 30 degrees outside with a north wind.
Then, I remembered my mother describing a method of starting old cars by jacking up one back wheel, chaining a log or pole to the wheel, and with the ignition on one could start the engine by turning the back wheel. I get out and check the trunk. There’s no jack, or chain, nothing that would allow me to try that trick.
I get back in the car and once again try to start the engine. This time it started! I had allowed the battery time enough to come back to life and it was enough to start. You will never know how much gratitude I felt, for God looking after us, for the old 1934 Ford coming alive again.
My apologies for not remembering the girl’s name. It could have been any one of a bunch. She never seemed to be bothered, trusting in me to get us out of this jam which I did. In fact, I don’t know whether she ever knew how bad of a fix we were in at the time, and I never told her. Just Sayin…RJS

So RJ I guess you never had a young lady after a night of kissy face tell you she was late, have you? Now that is panic.
To get home that is, because you kept her out to late.
Not about a late period! That came after I was married a couple of years. Just Sayin...RJS

How's the saying go Mr Samples the Lord works in mysterious ways. .Good story ☝️🙂👌
Yes, I have been very lucky, and sometimes not the way I wanted, but better for me in the long run. If I had gotten what I had always wanted, I could have easily wound up in the Hanoi Hilton! Just Sayin...RJS

I took a friend of my sister's on a date. It was winter in Wisconsin. Cold. We went to the local park for a little kissy-face. The city crews plowed that park so you could drive through it or park. After we kissed for a bit, I decided I better get her home. One more kiss I thought as we were driving away. I put the car into a snow bank. It was stuck. She got in the driver's seat and I'm rocking the car trying to get it un stuck. Then I have to pee. I find a tree and take care of business. Finally, we get out. It was the last date I had with her.
