My buddy and I were at HMB yesterday just enjoying the sun, waves and vibe, sipping a couple beers and a couple hits off a J. We saw this fisherman doing something in the wet sand. He was using a colander to catch sand crabs. He uses them for bait to catch surf perch. And he was knocking the perch dead!! Out of every 10 casts he would get maybe 7 bites. He caught a bunch. I baught a spaghetti caulk Der for catching sand crabs and use a plastic cup to keep them in any time you buy a salad at a super market you get one and fish the beach in Santa Cruz pleasure point beach great place to surf perch fish when the surf is calm you can nail them otherwise the seaweed breaks loose and it’s a mess the Colinder works great you can get them at bed bath and beyond or a restaurant supply store a good solid one cost about 8.00 you also can catch some clams when your digging
