Welcome to the forum Mike. Lots of crappie fishermen online here. A couple members also live in the Grove area & fish Grand Lake & hopefully you'll hear from one of them. I don't get up to Grand much so I'm no help. Good luck & tight lines.

Thank you Brother. Fishing and Catching are different forms of fun. I’ll be afishing until I start to catching .
I miss Winter fly fishing around Salida and Buena Vista area on the Arkansas River.
But it’s beautiful here too.
Catching is a bonus🤠

I've wet a hook in a lot of Colorado water but the hook was never connected to a fly rod. My favorite breakfast is brook trout with fried potatoes & onions. I've managed to catch all mine on a spinning rod. It's so much simpler.
Grand lake is a beautiful body of water and the country side is great as well. I only live about 20 minutes from the Arkansas River but there's no trout here for sure. Catfish & stripers are the main targets. I mainly fish lake Tenkiller & Ft Gibson lake. Ft Gibson is the 2nd lake below Grand Lake on the Neosho River. My wife likes Hudson lake which is the 1st lake below Grand. Lake. Tenkiller is impounded on the Illinois River & empties into the Arkansas River. There's great trout fishing below Tenkiller dam. It's a year round fishery. it's also a great place to catch stripers. Tight lines.

Hello John. I believe you're right about a guide for Mike. Grand Lake is just too big to start fishing without some knowledge of the lake. A half day with a knowledgeable guide would be invaluable to a new resident. Mike never mentioned a boat. I know there's lots of bank fishing near the dam & below the dam. Tight lines John.
