Hi I’m heading for Mexico Baja sur in January . I’ll be base camped around Mulege. Available to go from Mulege to Cabo San Lucas. I’d prefer to stay above LaPaz as much as possible. Any advice on inshore fishing would be appreciated thanks. Fuzzy Bodems

Wish you luck and hope you have a great time. Seen a lot of shows on fishing down there and enjoy watching them. Post some pictures of your adventures if you don't mind. Gordon

It has been years, but the bottom fishing just did not get the pressure that big game gets. Take some time to enjoy what the bottom has to offer.

I’m sure that’s still correct. I went out with Alex the local guide one day and we got a BUNCH of fish. Mostly sea bass. Scorpion bass. Trigger fish seem very abundant. And so fun on my light tackle feeling the bite. Thanks bapabear!

No problem. I got a lot of halibut and Jack trevally on lures (Point Wilson dart type lures) when I was there. I also hooked fish casting cast masters and 4 inch curly tail jigs into beaches and rocks in just feet of water. I even cast a few times unintentionally up onto the sand. I hooked some really nice fish that way just a few feet into the water. If I went again, I would have to take a couple packs of 2 inch Gulp sandworms and Gulp 4 inch chartreuse curly tail mullet. I fished where bank fishermen could not get to. Charter boats usually go where fish are plentiful rather than large. Remember what most fishermen forget, a one foot rock is cover if it has two feet of water above it or 200 feet of water above it. Enjoy

I love the cast master. A universal lure. Great advice thanks!

10/4. I’ve read about it a ton. I have a friend that guides sailfish on the fly there. I hope to get over there some October. So many fish. So little time.
