Fantastic striper fishing in lower CT River this morning, particularly just after sunrise. Stopped counting at 15 fish, 20-30”, top water, swimming plugs and Mackerel chunks. Plus a few shad to boot. I really don’t want it to get cold!

A nice fatty

Nice catching Steve. The sound is definitely hot right now, but they're heading south, so get'em while you can. Thanks for the pictures.

Ask Jarheadfishnfool for recipes. SAW1 and Ben took me on Napa River when I was on a trip. I was traveling by truck so the fish ( Striper) was given to Jarheadfishnfool. He had birthday celebration for his son and made ceviche with some of the Striped Bass.

I will look forward to targeting Stripers until I get to again. I can see why the people that chase them constantly do once I experienced it.

Looks absolutely delish Jeremy!!! Fall run is almost over, I am new to this but I hear this year was much longer than usual. Water temp is still 60, when it dips below the veterans say the stripers head out for offshore water.

Great day !! The run down here in NJ is really getting good. Many are saying best in years. Lots of huge fish being caught and released. Much more being tagged too. I hope it all leads to a management program that works for all of us since they are a migratory species. I love seeing this. Thanks for sharing !!

You think the reason this is happening is because of a good management program? You think it needs to be better?

I think slot limits are helping as well as education on proper handling and releasing.
Information gathered from tagging has got to help. Would be good to see some control on over harvesting the species in the Chesapeake as well as cutting back on over harvesting of menhaden

I agree about the slot limit CRK. If the big girls get to breed longer, the outcome of the spawn will improve. The only problem is no anglers will have the opportunity to break a record currently on the books, except IGFA line class records.

I am with CRK 100%. Need to invest in the future as much as possible. Meanwhile, my right elbow and wrist are in considerable pain - and totally worth it!!! 🦈

Yes I do think slot limits help a lot. Information gathered from tagging has got to be a plus. Education concerning proper handling and releasing is helping as well. It would help a lot also to get some control on over harvesting of this species in the Chesapeake. Also some control on over harvesting of menhaden everywhere. These are migratory species so strict management in one area has limited results if they are over harvested somewhere else.
