Caught a windowpane flounder, 2 hickory shad and 2 striped bass to 31” on a NJ jetty tonight. After I beached the big bass, then tagged and released it, 3 intruders were in my spot so I left with the fish still biting.

Good morning, bands. Nice fish, bands, congrats.

I can't imagine anyone doing that much less three of them. There must not have been a brain among them. Hopefully, that is not an East Coast thing. I haven't fished much on the East Coast, only off of the Carolinas. Do you wear waders on the jetties when the waves are tough? That makes sense to me. I have never seen that done either. I guess I have led a sheltered life.

I don't know about him Leo but I never wear waders on a jetty. Cleats, Grundens yes. Waders no.

Very nice Band. Get the "intruder" part. Some guy just walked on the pier , came to the end where me and two other guys were already and put his pole right there in the middle of us. Then took another pole and cast out right over my line. I left also. Wish someone would teach these guys some manners. I'm not big enough.

Guys surf Lake Erie in the fall and spring near me. It’s cold out and the water is freezing but that’s when the surfs up. Do they suite up in dry suits and surf. I’ll get you guys some pics the next time I see them.

Tight lines

Nice catching Bands, and beautiful Striper. Hopefully the bite died when you left. I hate rude dirtbags like that.

Ive been known to cut rigs off when they tangle in mine. Not necessarily the first time, but often the second.. I do give them the rig back, unless there's a third time.

Winter is the best time for surfing in NJ. Manasquan is the most popular spot. Sometimes there are more than 60 surfers there. They take most of the parking spots.

I wear knee boots with Korkers and Grundens bibs. When I returned to my spot, a foreigner to my left had a huge tangle and a lot of line out in the ocean across my spot. A foreign intruder to my right had a fish on his line and his accomplice was standing by with a treble hook gaff. Since it was impossible to continue fishing in my spot without catching their line, I went in to fish in the surf. The two intruders with the fish on their line followed me to the beach, then their fish escaped. I made a few casts, then bought my 81 year old brother Joe dinner. A few years ago another foreign intruder saw me catch striped bass in the same spot and also followed me after I moved away from him. After he caught my line, he said that he was going to throw me into the ocean.

In my experience surfers are as crazy as fishermen. Doesn't matter what the temp is if the water conditions are right

I'm sorry, I just don't take that crap, and I never did. Of course, being in the National Hall of Fame in Wrestling might have put a different light on the situation. I would tell him he didn't want his rod sticking out of his a$$, he had better move along.

For me, fishing is therapy. A bad day at work, terrible traffic, or just the regular ol’ blues become a distant memory after a few minutes on the Magothy River. Unfortunately, there are those days when an intruder disrupts that serenity. I agree with flyguy! Send those intruders on their way!
I was crabbing from a pier one day and an obnoxious couple threw their lines and traps into the water within 3 feet of mine. After a series of dirty looks and frustrated deep breaths, I collected my gear, walked 40ft further down the pier and sent 4 lbs of razor clams(my choice of bait for crabbing)into the drink. As I was leaving, I walked past the obnoxious couple, tipped my hat, smiled and cheerfully said”good luck today”! Not my best behavior, but it sure felt good!
