To say,”Thank you for your service.” to a veteran of the armed forces has become cliche’! It does not express the depth of gratitude we should all have for you men and women who have given so much of your lives in defense of our nation and each one of us. There is little I can do for you but all of you please know I pray for you often and I AM GRATEFUL. Veteran’s Day Nov.11,2022…….

Thank you Wulffy, there are a lot of suffering Vets out there that never hear a thank you. They deserve prayers from all of us.

Hello Greywulff: Yes, now from the time I was 5 and then in the first grade, all I ever wanted to do was to fly in the U.S. Army Air Corps! The Air Force did not exist. I even wore to school every day, one of that old WW I cap with goggles until it was worn out!

In college, I was in U.S. Air Force R.O.T.C. and did well enough to be a Lt. Col. on Wing Staff my senior year. A physical during my junior year at Carswell AFB found I had a small scar on the lens of my left eye. No flying contract, a commission but no flying!

Later, on active duty, I ask for a re-examination because I thought I have 20/20 vision. The Flight Surgeon did a full week checking my eyes. At the end of the week, he said, "Lieutenant, on average you have 20/20 vision, but the Air Force doesn't need pilots, they don't even need officers.

Back on base my commanding officer offered me 6 months and out to the reserves, and I took it!

Only about three years later did I learn one of my classmates had the same problem but was back in flying because the Air Force now needed pilots again. Viet Nam!

But now I had a wife and two children and didn't see how they could ever benefit by my flying in the Air Force.

GW. This brought something to mind. It was several yrs ago at Costco. In the early sand war days. A young soldier was in the next line. I heard some ladies say thank you. He looked at me n I said I also thank you n it's nice they said it. As we walked toward the exit I said it would have been nice if someone would have thanked the Ines that came back from Nam. Instead they got treated like dirt. Cursed n called names including baby killers. Much of that was brought on by the biased media. Sensationalism. Like you said cliche. Some know the cost of freedom. All should know the cost. How many that say thank you are helping with projects like wounded warriors or DAV or housing for vets in need. No vet should be on the street. Help heal this great nations WARRIORS first 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sometimes words aren't anywhere near enough to say what should be said. Too many damaged vets. I've seen it with many of my clients and two of my fishing buddies.

Thank you for sharing!!! When I left active duty I and all the others who served were bums - baby killers, etc. and I know (some) folks mean well, and for others it IS as you say, however I accept it all.

Is the wounded warriors a straight up organization. Does the money get funneled into the someones pocket or is it really doing vets good.

Dakota I sure hope so brother. It's hard to tell with any organization. From what I've read about some charities a large portion goes into operational expenses.

Grizzly 17 thank you much for the post. I did 4 combat tours in Vietnam and coming home was just bitter. Only wanted a job and live like anyone else. When I hear that Thank you for your service stuff now it makes me wanna cringe. I think that was started around 911 to drum up recruits and patriotism. And I don't go for the free Big Mac on Veterans Day either.
