I certainly agree with your last sentence. I haven't voted in local or national elections for years. I won't get political here. Man has his own agenda and humbling himself seems highly unlikely for many.

That’s probably why the scripture I just posted says “if” and not “when” as God is omniscient
(knows everything).

Well… “humbling himself” is a choice we all have to make, just as voting is. Only YOU can decide whether you do your part in trying to improve your life or not.
If you do neither, you have no right to complain about the results/consequences.
