Send a PM to Flytier, I think he's heading there tomorrow as well.
And Welcome to the Stage Motus.

He probably won't see this if he hasn't already. Go to the top of the page and click on Private Messages, and type in his handle, and type in your message. It's easy. It will go directly to his Email.

Nope. Island Beach is one Island north if LBI. If I fish the jetty at Barnegat Inlet, the other side is Island Beach. BTW, the catching is never the same on each side.

Island Beach is a gorgeous barrier island down by Toms River. It's about an hour and half drive from here in West Orange [NYC latitude] LBI, Long Beach is an island further south and is populated with houses. Both have very clear water and clean beaches.

I hear the morning bite has slowed at island beach and LBI. There is a ton of bait fish around though. I’m betting Tuesday night’s blood moon will be a good bite. Mid day has been very slow with warmer temps. There are a lot of dogfish all over the ocean right now so bring lots of bait. There are quality stripers around so it can happen for you. You can catch tog off the jetties at Barnegat inlet on either the island beach side or Barnegat Light side. That’s been a very good bite.

All ery true. When the sun goes down, the sharks come in. Caught the last holdout at about 0700 this morning. After that the crabs took over.. maybe I'll drive up to the inlet and try for a tog.

Have you tried just taking some light gear and walking up and down the beach casting in different spots. Or IBSP you can 4 wheel drive up and down the whole island doing that. I often wish I had a beach access vehicle. Hutch has one but never takes off work.

You need the island beach state park beach buggy pass/permit to drive on the beach there. They sell out quickly. They will go on sale January 1st for 2023. Walking and moving from hole to hole and cuts between sand bars throwing plugs and bucktails with trailers is a highly successful tactic especially when there’s a lot of dogfish in the area to hog your bait which is the current situation here. Moving to other spots if you’re not catching will definitely up your odds.
