Hi, I'm Joe from Toms River NJ. I haven't been fishing for a while. This past week I went to a lake in Lakehurst NJ. After setting up with my chair and coffee. The second cast a goose jumped on my bait and flew away ang took all of my line off of my spool. Next time I 'll bring 2 rods.

Good evening, Joe, and welcome to the Forum. I would be willing to bet that that will never happen again.

Welcome to the Stage Joe. Someone started a thread about wierd wildlife encounters when fishing, maybe yesterday. Your story ranks right there with the best of them.

Hi Joe.
Geese can be SO annoying. Aggressive, loud, leave unwanted presents all over and now thieves!!! Sorry that happened! Would be worth the drive over to Island Beach State Park perhaps. No geese that I've seen there.

Welcome to the forum Joe. Not many people can say they caught a goose on hook and line.

Joe, I'm sorry that happened to you, but, dang I couldn't stop laughing at your post. It is 2:28am as I read it, but, still it's just so unexpected and funny when one is sleep deprived and reading such things. I'm just glad I wasn't drinking something when I read it. Don't give up on the fish--I look forward to seeing some pics in the future.
