I just bought a pedal kayak (Perception Crank 10) to use in my local lakes and ponds in Sonoma County. I was wondering if others with kayaks have fished the Petaluma river? If so where do you launch? Another question I had is how difficult does it get pedaling with tide changes since the river connects to the bay? Any answers or tips for trolling the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can't help you with your fishing question Joystix, i am a peddle powered yaker too and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to say nice looking yak you have there.
As for your tide question i guess i depends on how strong the tide is. Here i start my day against the tide and or wind so that coming back is less strenuous.
Good luck and tight lines in your new ride.
Welcome to our paradise hidden in plain view....the Petaluma harbor is getting dredged to the recommended 6-8 feet deep through the month of November. The water is chocolate pudding, hard for the fish to see and smell. Very few stripers are getting marked, they probably sought refuge up the sloughs away from the tugs and barges. Dredging season is almost over, standby for news, good local fishing tips will come your way here on the Fishing Stage.
Private message Saw1, he is the expert on the Petaluma river! Good luck

Downstreamer, I cant find Gilardie's on the map. Can you be more clear as to where that is?
