Love trolling for walleye but not much experience at it. I have a boat and most of the necessary equipment. I have been on a few lakes around here but want to get out on Lake Erie. Any anglers out there willing to share some info.

Good morning, Rago, and welcome to the Forum. Sorry, I'm of no help to you, I have never fished in ID.

Thanks flyguy. Don’t know much about fly fishing either. Been to Minnesota a couple times. Around Leech Lake.

Welcome Rago28 to FS. We have a few folks that fish Lake Erie. Check back here occasionally and they may have some tips for you. Enjoy the site. You could also go to the Main section of FS and post a specific question about fishing on Erie.

I fish Erie for Walleye out of CLE. Send me a PM with any questions I’ll do my best to help. My general rules I use when trolling eyes are 1.7-2.2 mph. And about 100 to 150 set back. This time of year stick baits such as smith wick perfect 10’s, Berkeley flicker minnows and rapala diving crank baits. Are the most productive lures. Pink lemonade, purple and chrome have been my best colors. They are the most active after sundown but can be caught all day. One more tip this time of year if you can find 50-56 degree water there is a good chance you’ll find eyes.

Hope this helps.
Tight lines

No problem at all and like I said you can send me a Private Message if you have any more specific questions. I’m no master Walleye fisherman but I do try to keep up with what guys are doing to catch them.

Tight lines

Wouldn’t be opposed to it as long I can do it from my boat. Maybe sight fishing for Tarpon in the gulf
