I have used mono for years. I am considering changing to braid when I put new line on this winter. I have always used the polymer knot with mono. I understand it is not work well with braid. Two questions what braid to you recommend and what knot do you use?

PJ i just switched over from Uni knot to this knot in the video that someone posted here on the stage. Presently over 300 - 400 cast on it and only about 24 catches, but still holding strong.

Yes a fluro leader. Fluro is stronger.

I tried top water without a leader, but then when i wanted to put a swim bait on i had to add the leader. So now my set ups are with a leader for top water or lures.

For what its worth…..i have only been fishing a few years but have been using braid and polymer knot almost exclusively,….never had any problems with the knot.

I use a double uni knot with my braid to floro leader when I use a leader. I don’t use a leader trolling for walleye. Usually a 6” steel leader. I use a single uni for that and to attach my snaps.

Tight lines

Been using braid on most rods. To attach a leader I generally use an improved Albright, aka crazy alberto

We always use braid for Striper fishin. We always tie directly to the lure. I have used the Palomar knot a lot with other lines but prefer the Uni knot with braid. HOWEVER, I always run my line through the eye of the lure TWICE and then tie my Uni knot. For some reason I feel the double wraps through the eye makes a stronger knot.
Stripers are really hard on the lures and line where connected to the lure.

I put more line on my reel, cast farther and get more hook ups with braid than mono but get very bad tangles and knot failures with a fluorocarbon leader and braid. It’s very difficult and dangerous to break off braid in a snag. I saw some fishermen cut their line at the reel then create a new gigantic snag.

PowerPro moss green braid, Segaur fluoro. I use uni to uni knot to tie those together.
The Palomar knot is not known to fail for tying terminal tackle.

P-Line TCB (Teflon Coated) Braid. It is very round for braid and you can fish in rock or wood with no worries. I always use a leader (very short) of mono due to a much better catch rate. My guess is the small amount of stretch and line visibility is why. I really don't know why just that it works better for me. I only use braid on my spinning reels and the baitcasters I use for punching and throwing big swim and glide baits. All my other baitcasters it's strictly flouro or mono for me.

Thought so too dbed. I like the size of the knot it produces, seems smaller than the uni knot.
