Snagging Kokanee Salmon in Navajo Lake

We are new to NM and my son and I want to go salmon snagging. Are there any places you can recommend doing it from shore? We don't have a boat but would love to get some to smoke!

🐟onHere in. NM it is legal for a few months. I haven’t done it, but several friends have. Good eating.

When I was a kid we would use a hand line and put three small hooks on and put maggots on the hooks.We did quite well with that. Back then we called the kokanee Blue backs. Ricky Sitka

Thanks for all the replies. We figured out where to go and ended up with 7 fish. We had 3 for supper last night and the rest are in the smoker right now!

Navajo lake you can snag at the main marina Pine river site. Better hurry they getting soft & dark. Fun to catch but not much eating. Trout fishing can be excellent during the salmon run.
