I hope not, but lots of weather being forecasted starting tonight for at least a week. Air temp at launch was 30. Water temp on Flathead Lake 55. Number of boats on the water, 1 (me). Perfect !
Managed some smallies on the Hookup Bait 1/4 oz in red/orange. Plus I knew the big lake trout love that lure and fun to fight on light bass gear. Played with a huge lake trout (15-20 lbs) but broke boat side while I was attempting to take pics. Fingers crossed I still can get on the water before snow. Fish released to fight again. Tight lines to all

Great catching once again JB! I am trying to get some inspiration from your post this morning to brave colder than anticipated Northern Michigan temps in my sit on top kayak. The wind was supposed to be gentle, but is now in the mid teens with forecasted gusts to 25 mph. I think I'll pick a really small lake and use the shoreline tree cover to my advantage!

Thanks for your posts!

Smart. That’s the advantage of your kayak. Up tight and personal. Go for it πŸ‘

I did end up making it out this morning. Fished from 10 am until 1 pm and only ended up with one strike on a light perch patterned Rapala in about 3 feet of water. Probably a LM bass on the small side. Spent time jigging, casting and trolling in a variety of depths with a good assortment of tackle...all to what I call "black water"...no fin adorned inhabitants to be found!

Nobody else was on the lake, but I did enjoy some enjoyable conversation with folks that were out doing yard work and getting things buttoned up for Winter.

The foliage around the lake was magnificent, and although the wind blew pretty much the whole time, the trees kept it at bay enough for me to enjoy the opportunity to just be on the water.
