Hello stagers! Made it out to Rockpile again today. Air temp a chilly 42'. Water temp unknown. Started off with same green twist tail as Monday with same results. First fish was a 16" STRIPER!!! MY VERY FIRST EVER!!
After that a couple hybrids, a blue cat (?), skipping and a big hybrid at 16.5"s. I just told fishfreq yesterday I ve never landed on that big. After that the bite slowed so I switched to a 4in opaque w/ pepper flake paddle tail. Good choice. Several more hybrids and a new PB striper! 17.3#s, 29in long and a crazy rock hopping time downstream to get it landed!
Big shout out to Rodger from Patriot Catfishing who actually did the landing-scooping of the fish. He & his bro run an NPO for DAVs. Thank you sir!

Tom, bread them in corn meal salt and pepper, then give them a baptism in HOT crisco.... Deep fry them, when they float to the top, and turn golden brown take them up... Serve with fries, hush puppies, and salad... Generous amounts of ice tea with a little lemon... That's how we do it down here, simple but oh so good!
Doc
Dip them in an egg/milk bath, then roll them in a Frying Magic, Shore Lunch or any breading you like and do as Doc says. Enjoy!
Thatβs a nice day. Contact and thanks for the pictures
On my striper fillets I V-cut any dark red meat out. Commonly called the mud line. You will have a trancelucent fillet. Rinse and pat dry with paper towel. I use a commercial breading mix like Tony Cutcheres Fish Fry. Key is to keep your oil at 350 degrees. Deep fry in 2" pieces. When they float up roll over to brown both sides. I like to cook some onion rings at the same time. Dip in egg wash and the fish fry breading. Don't get no better than that!
