Forecast of snow possibly coming, has me motivated to fish as much as possible (not that I need much motivation. Lol.) Air temp at launch 32. Water holding at 57. All fish released.
Nice ones JB! Cool effect on those net shadows! You've got a keen eye for what makes an interesting photo!
We have had rain and gale force winds locally for the past 2 days...gusts up to 50 mph with driving rain, sleet, some hail and a trace of snow today. Not exactly my recipe for getting out in the kayak! I hope it breaks soon so I can enjoy a few more outings around here. I also hope you can squeeze in some more trips as well!
Lol. Disregard last 2 photos. Previous trip. Right lure, but it caught smallmouth this morning. Duh… probably need to delete photo library and don’t post while moving. 🤔

I’d gladly trade you some of my Alpine ca 80 degree weather today for your bass fishing!!! But I’d turn into an icicle fishing at 32 degrees. I enjoy your pictures of the bass, I thought the only fish in Montana were trout. I’d love live there in the summer but I couldn’t handle the winters being a native socal 78 year old candy a$$!! I gave up on our lakes 8 years ago and only fish SD bay now. Next week I’m taking Garey OBG out for the 3rd time going for bonefish in the South Bay. Larry W.

32°is pretty frosty JB. I don't know if my hands could take it. Beautiful pictures, keep up the good work buddy.

Trust me. Montana really is all about “TROUT”. Fish & Game actively poisoned these lakes for years to kill off the bass, as they considered them an invasive species. They told me they gave up on that about 10 years ago. I’m no expert here, but I work pretty hard to find bass in these lakes. Very little intel so it’s really been time on the water for me. Not a lot of bass guys in these parts. I have been fortunate to find and catch some pretty nice fish… but I wouldn’t say there’s great quantity of bass in these lakes. Not a lot of bait and basically the growing season is limited with these lakes freezing over for half the year. I just don’t see very little of new younger generations of bass and/or fry when I’m fishing. But I feel very blessed to catch a few and feel good about releasing them to make babies.

Oh trust me… I throw a lot of trout pattern baits. Sometimes one needs to throw bright colors just to draw their attention. They can be very curious by nature. Smallies were nice ones too

Don't cut yourself short JB, you ARE the resident expert bass fisherman in Montana. Every time I go to the lakes down here and see the water disappearing as well as making the fishing extremely difficult, I think of you up there in God's country. Get those trips in now, as it won't be long you will be shut down for the winter. Keep them lines tight my friend.
