Welcome to the stage Nawlins. You have the Amite and Tickfaw rivers on opposite sides of you and to your south. They both wind up in Maurepas. You have Manchac Paas leading into Ponchartrain. Pick your poison. If you have a Facebook account you can look up fishing clubs for the latest information. I don’t have one personally and haven’t fished those areas for quite a while with the exception of Manchac Pass and the power lines that run south all the way to Freniere. In the late summer specs, reds and drum will make it all the way over in that area as long as the Bonne Carre spillway hasn’t been opened. Good luck and let us know how things are going.

Thanks for the reply. I will check those areas out. Now all I have to do is get a marine map of those areas. Not sure where I can pick up a map of the area though. What locations do you fish and where do you launch your boat?

When you get your map, see Lake Maurepas south of you where the Amite and Tickfaw dump into it. The ease side of Maurepas flows into Ponchartrain. That's Manchac Pass. Once into Lake Ponchartrain you will see the power lines and structures on concrete pilings running north and south. You can fish the structures all the way south to Frieneire. There is a boat launch at the end of Peavine road off of 55 at Freniere along with a little restaurant and bait shop. Just north of Manchac at North Pass on 55 there is another boat launch. There is marsh all around the boat launch at North pass and around to Manchac Pass to fish.

If you live in Denham Springs there are several ponds for bass. You would not even need a boat. You can fish on shore.
