Check out the regulations on SF eel river they have closers on various areas for steelheads and trout so be sure in the area where you are staying that all is good 👍

Practically speaking there is nothing to fish for on Eel right now, unless you want to catch sucker fish. The Eel is known for its steelhead which will happen when the rains come, if they come ? Good rain years November bad years never opens.

I agree with Craig42. The Eel and it's tributaries are heavily rain dependent for Salmon and Steelhead. After November rains the fishing can be outstanding, before then, not much.

The Eel isn't open for fishing until it rains enough. You need to call a Fish and Wildlife phone recording to check if it does rain between now and your trip. 707-822-3164
