Share pictures of the damage caused by Ian in your area. Identify the general area. These are from Amalia Island. We had some flooding along the Amelia River which is not unusual and one large tree in downtown.

Wow! After I and my family sat through one hurricane, I vowed never to do that again. So, while living in Houston if we were going to get a direct hit by a hurricane, we would leave and sit it out at my children's home in Austin, about 150 miles in the interior of the state. Just Sayin...RJS

Like you, I've stayed one time and will never do it again. We were in Tennessee for this one.

Good reminder pics there Jack of the 3 or 4 that i went through in the last 20 years. Now living inland and on high ground while just recalling memories of my own seeing your pics. Have deleted my pics from the past vowing not to want to go through that again.

I enjoy visiting the coastal areas. However the these pictures and the many others I have seen is why I do not want to live on or near the coast.

I've talked to folks all over this country and when they ask where I'm from I tell them 'California'.
They usually say something about not wanting to live there, those earthquakes!
Thanks, I'll take my earthquakes over your hurrricanes!

Still, I'm just about ready to pull the plug and high-tail it out of the people's republic of California.
The earthquakes are small change after you've weathered the hot air coming out of Sacramento!

You're right, if you live in the hills, the fires are a far bigger threat than earthquakes.
Still, I think that Florida has it worse than California!
