Black Sea Bass will eat anything!

I have come to the conclusion, quite by accident, that Black Sea Bass will eat ANYTHING!….
Its the last day of Flounder season, Snapper blues are showing up, and Triggerfish are hanging around the reefs…so i have one rod set up for flounder, with minnows and gulp…one rod set up for triggerfish with small hooks and dime size pieces of squid, and another set up for snapper blues with mullet on a float rig…..what do i catch? Close to a dozen Black Sea Bass…..a couple on each rig! I have now caught them using shredder crabs, mole crabs, squid, mullet, gulp, minnows, clams, spearing and probably a few im forgetting…
Not complaining…just an observation……🤨 ( oh, and i didnt catch any of the other fish 🙄)

the smaller ones are especially opportunistic . Those size "Black Wills" are also good bait themselves.

When I go for Black Sea Bass. I use Squid and as soon as I catch the first one I cut it up for bait. It stays on the hook long enough to catch 4 to 6 more. Give it a try. you'll be surprised.

Yeah Kandi….i was happily busy…and most were fatties too….but season is over …can start keeping them again sometime in October….

Thanks Rhyno…my last for a while looks like…the hurricane supposed to make things hairy for a while. That thing is a monster! ….of course, if all i have to complain about is i cant fish for a few days considering what the folks in FLA are going thru…im pretty lucky.

Thanks Griz…..yeah, every lake should have them….gonna start keeping some once we re allowed…they’re getting bigger now..

October 7 is the beginning of Black Sea bass season, 10 fish at 13” until 10/26. On 11/1-12/31 it’s 15 fish at 13”. It seems that you’ve done your pre season scouting. I hope it pays off for you! That is some good tasting fish.

.yeah CR…i should have no problem finding these….seems like they’re all i caught all summer. I heard they’re delicious…cant wait to try them.
