I was at Half Moon Bay today at Pillar Point. Took a stroll down to the fishing pier and saw two salmon caught within minutes of each other. One was probably 8 pounds and the other 12 or 14. What was unusual was the method used to catch them. They had a string of floating beads ( 6 or 7) and 3-5 feet below that were 2 hooks about 4 inches apart followed by a small weight or a couple of split shots. What was crazy was that there was no bait on the hooks. I asked a guy how this worked and he said the salmon would bite the line and slide down to the hooks. Well seeing is believing and it must work as everyone there was using the same set up. Learned something new today.
