I don’t see any post about fishing at saguaro lake. I’m from Minnesota. Did more bass fishing and Crappie. I’ve heard there’s bass there but don’t have a boat and wondering what areas you can fresh from the banks of the shore. And what time of the year is best for largemouth bass? Thanks!

I checked the fishing report on the Arizona Game and Fish website just for fun. The latest report is over a month old and there is no report for Saguaro Lake. Either the fishing is so bad that no one fishes there or the fishing is so good that local anglers want to keep it secret. Bank fishing is limited if memory serves.

There is fishing at Butcher Cove and I think a wharf just beyond ramp number 2. On Wednesday we caught yellow bass, bluegill, and catfish on artificials but not a single largemouth. Two more weeks and they should be moving shallow. Water was 80-84 degrees. A boat is preferable.

Unfortunately this lake is really tough to bank fish due to little shoreline access and constant boat wakes you will be better off in a boat here. Canyon is close and offers alot of shore line options as well as Bartlett.

I fish Saguaro Dec thru April. Fishing is generally very good. I fish from a boat about 4-6 hours a day. it would be tough from shore, but possible in some areas. Blue Gills plentiful (best day 180 keepers, normally 25-50), yellow bass were plentiful last winter/spring if you could find them, large mouth bass deep in colder weather, and nice size catfish are not uncommon.
Saguaro (Apache and Canyon also) had an algae bloom last year that messed up fishing for a couple of months, blue gills kept me happy through that period

Glad to hear the bluegills are still there. I had great success with them pre algae bloom, but nothing since then. Mostly trying to catch them with live worms.

Last April I fished Butcher Jones cove from the shore and caught 4 trout in about an hour and a half. I just checked winter stocking schedules for trout and they don’t show Saguaro or Canyon lake getting stocked, only the Lower Salt River. Why is that? I know there’s trout in that lake because of the ones I caught in April
