I can’t help you out with your trip but I’m sure someone will be along who can. I live near Elizabeth wv. I come over your way now and then to fish north Bend. And when they stock I fish Tracy and the reservoir.
The StJohns offers a wide variety of sport fishing as well as some of the best shell cracker gils. Really big SC gils and crappie can be found under the Green Cove Springs Marina pier. I recommend at least 8# test and even then expect to loose several fish. That pier holds bass, cats, perch, gils, crappie, and several variety of salt species are present just before the tide goes out. I've been spooled there x2 and never seen what did it. Have fun!
I'd be very interested in how you do! Pls posts some pics and tell us low down. Tight lines
Try local tackle shops. Local paper TV and Radio fishing reports. Woods and Water magazine is another source
Ok North Bend has some crappie. Fished there last week for them but was unable to find them. It should be better before long as the temperature will start being cooler. Give me a holler when you are coming up this way.
I live on the St John’s. There are many slab crappie on the River. Work the banks with jigs or minnows. At night you can use lights and they draw feeder fish. Work the area just below the sight depth of the light. There are a lot of down tree cover areas you can work. When you get here you’ll here them talking about specs, that’s FL for black crappie.
Maybe if you have time when I’am down there in February, you can show me how to catch a few.
