We got out on the upper bear creek lake late afternoon and fished till almost pitch black. Nutting picture worthy as far as the fish are concerned. I did get a pic of a lone swimmer. I broke off 4 times on the hookset using 15# braid. I stripped 10 ft of line off and retied before launch and again after the 2 break off. I'm tired of braid. Too unreliable. Unless someone here can point to what I'm missing, I'm going back to floro and using the braid as backer. TIA. Tight lines!

If ‘it’s breaking at the leader you may want to use a different knot.

It doesn't sound like braid is the problem more like the knot. Check out this info and the only thing i would add is a little spit when tightening it. Just like the uni knot spit cools the heat off when tension applied.

I recently respooled 2 reels and the uni wasn't holding either. Loss a $ 10 lure on a weed snag. Switched over to the knot in the video and have had a good 100 cast and 6 catches on it since

It was OJ, Someone posted it here on the stage some time ago and i saved it for passing it on. I don't know if new braid was the problem with the uni knot, but when i did the knot on the video no problems.

Thanks for the video link.
I've been tying the braid to the hook...not a braid to leader. Will try that first. Which brings up another question...do I use the same poundage or diameter?

You can use a heavier leader.example: billfishing we use 30# braid with 80# flouro leaders.

rip is doing some heavier fishing than myself. I go after the 5 - 10 fish and use 14 lb braid with 20 lb flouro.

For your braid to hook tie, have you tried the Palomar knot? Most common used and i use that on my top water lure sometimes instead of a leader since the bite is on top and the action is what the fish is after.

Had them in NC also. Worse part is when they swim up behind you and want to take a break on the back of the kayak when you aren't looking.

Just an example, trout fishing it’s 4# braid to 2# leader
