Loc: Bayshore, Long Island, New York
Just spent the weekend camping and fishing out at the camp ground. Ocean was as calm as a bathtub Friday and Saturday and there were some bluefish around. I know because I saw one. It had jump a good 4’ in the air ! Probably avoiding the 4-6’ threashwe shark that was swimming about 30 yards off the beach thrashing it’s tail back and forth in the middle of the pod of bunker closest to shore.
That might explain why we did catch anything, or maybe the fact that there were SO many bunker(manhadden)around that the predators simply couldn’t find our lures.
Combine the glassy surface of the ocean and the unlimited visibility I was surprised I didn’t see any Whales breaching or spouting. Ah well, it was still awesome fishing even though we caught naught.
