I am pretty successful in far northern New Jersey. No luck at all in southern NJ. I doing the same things. But no luck. Any pointers?
Use pork roll instead of Taylor ham. LOL 😂
Are you talking about largemouth or stripers?

Sorry, stripers. Large mouth bass
There are a lot of shallow lakes in south Jersey and it helps to know where deeper holes and channels are. Also anywhere there is edges of mud and sand. Some lakes in south Jersey are too acidic. Some tend to be holding mostly pickerel and small panfish. Most tactics that work in any lake will work here as well. Around docks, and other structure. Blue metal flake plastic worms fished slow . Live minnows on a bobber to control depth will work pretty much anytime, any where.Topwater at dusk jitterbug, spook. Early morning buzz bait.

Thank you. I'll get some blue metal flake worms. I've been using purple. Typically I don't use live bait but I'll give it a try. Thans for pointing out the water depth difference. I'm used to fishing fairly deep glacier formed lakes. They may only be 20 - 40 feet deep but drop off fairly quickly.
Happy fishing!
