Love fishing there but since they have raised the rates to launch your boat to 36.50 I'm done going there.
And have been fishing it for years.

Wow! That looks bad. Use to launch out of Moccasin about 25 years ago. And use to ride dirt bikes at the bottom of the lake before the created it with the dam… 🐟on

It is so sad to see all these lakes drying up our west. I hope you have a wet winter.

$35+ just to launch a boat ?
I understand a PARKING FEE, sure.... someone has to keep it clean and maintain the bathrooms.
But an amount that rivals a license fee, each time you go to launch (?), is just greed on the part of whatever entity has jurisdiction over that lake.
Certainly glad we don't have anything like that in Oregon. Of course, we have license fees and salmon/steelhead/sturgeon tags, two-rod endorsement, Columbia River Drainage fee, local county parking permit & clean boat fee, so it was about $145 for everything on my license for the calendar year..... but then I can pretty much fish the entire state. Hurts a LITTLE bit less when it is bundled and then the "pain" is over until next January !

If I paid $35 each time, I would expect to have a competent person directing the ramp comings and goings, and a pretty gal to have a cold drink and snacks for all, waiting in the parking lot !
At the very least, the facilities around the ramp better be spotlessly clean !

Always a shame when an entity decides to control an activity by simply charging more money until they get the "#'s" down to where they "think" they ought to be. Or perhaps they're trying to weed out the "ne'er do wells" and make it a "rich boys" lake (?), in which case, "vetting the caliber of your boat and your gear" might be on the horizon !!??...... for your sake and the sake of all Cali folks, I certainly hope that isn't the intention....so sorry to hear of such practices, even if it's not my state.

$35+ just to launch a boat ? br I understand a PAR... (show quote)

Yep, I refuse to fish at a lake that charges too much to launch.
Too many other places to chose from that you can launch free or for around 6 bucks.
To me it's just not worth it. I'd rather pay the gas to drive to another fishin place as to pay an exorbitant launch fee. 🤨😠👎

So, does a place that charges so much, actually have "wonderful facilities" ??
A "tie down area" ?
A boat washing station ?
A fish cleaning station ?
Decent bathroom facilities ?
Plenty of nearby parking ?
Better be special for that kind of fee.

Depends on how good the fishing is, Pardee is excellent for really nice sized trout, people who know what they are doing can be limited out on trout by mid morning, and the bag limit is 5 Trout 10 Kokanee, it's 30 miles away from me, but the really really nice thing is no skiers or jet skis. It doesn't seem so bad for quality fishing, then again I don't get out fishing as much as you do...Lol

I fish 2 to 3 times a week.
Two of the places I ish you can launch for FREE. The other one charges 6 bucks.
I'm usually fishin out of the free ones, Napa river or Lake Sonoma. Petaluma charges 6 bucks. 🤠👍

Can you imagine if I fished 3 times a week and had to pay 35 bucks to launch that's over 100 dollars a week. Over 400 dollars a month. That's $5460.00 a year just to launch my boat.
Sue is VERY TOLERANT of all my fishin.
HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure she would have a problem with that. 😯😢🤣

I fish Don Pedro as it's pretty close to my house (30 minutes). You can get an annual senior pass for vehicles for ~$65 and an annual boat pass for ~$100. I generally use Blue Oaks or Fleming to launch. I like to lake but current water levels are brutal and I have not been back in 6-8 weeks.

Does the annual boat pass include parking the truck and trailer?

The water district that handles the lake or PG&E
I'm not sure but Don Pedro has always 19.00 or 20.00 to launch and park.
But when they raise it to 36.oo I was done.
When Tullock is 15.00 and New Melonies is 5.00 for Veterans and Seniors.
And Modesto Reservoir 5.oo for Veterans and seniors.

No, that’s another $65. The whole thing is outrageous. Why would they need that kind of revenue to maintain a couple of boat ramps…🤷‍♂️ 🐟on
