One of the lovely ladies I visited said proudly, “I’m 103 years old.” We continued the conversation. Along the way she asked how old my Dad was. I replied, “My Father is 91 yrs old.” She chuckled a little before commenting, “Why he’s just a teenager.” I about lost it laughing, as did she! What a treasure she was.

I've always had a wonderful time bringing Church service's and gospel singing to the nursing homes, one lady very sick with stomach cancer wanted us to lift her up to in prayer to Jesus for healing, other's just lonely hungry for our time and we always had our children and youth Sunday school class help handout gift's at Christmas time. We always left feeling blessed, God gets the glory! I've been blessed to serve these wonderful people since I was a teenager. Thanks For sharing HosChap!

Hos,
A few years ago I was visiting the office at a local retirement home making arrangements to enroll my 90 something mother. I was probably 68 at the time. One of the residents seeing me in the office rolled up in her wheelchair asking if I was planning on becoming a resident. I replied yes but it might be a few years. She sighed and said that would be too late, she didn't have that much time. Both the office manager said I had a genuine laugh out loud at her sense of humor. I still smile when I think of that lady.

Hos, br A few years ago I was visiting the office ... (show quote)

Reminds me of a pastor friend who was single and never married. While visiting a nursing home an elderly lady , sitting cross legged Indian style on her bed, asked if he was married. He replied no. She said if she was younger, she’d give him a try. Hahaha. Older seniors can truly be a blessing. Many just want the companionship and conversation. What a wealth of information and experience they are.

Starting with our grandparents we learn to treasure them.

What a great thing to do. I'm sure they feel blessed too.

My wife and I get Christmas, birthday, and other cards and calendars in the mail. We take them to a senior citizen living center where they are glad to get them.

Some day in the future we might be one of the recepients, but for now I'm going fishing.
