Oregon Fishing

Good morning,
Is anyone catching any salmon yet in Coos bay or Winchester into the Umpqua. When we went out Fish and game said only two caught. Still no rain so I would imagine it’s still pretty low numbers. We heard two on the Umpqua by Elkton and then two near the sawmill casino on another day. Anyone know anything else?

Haven't talked to my buddy over in Gold Beach, but haven't heard anybody "bragging about bagging"around here, which I usually do by now, even if it's coho. We simply need some rain to get 'em "coming on home". You can call the tackle shops or check the latest ODFW reports, but not sure if you want to rely on anything BUT RAIN to improve on what's going on. Cooler state-wide next week with an actual chance of showers, could help kickstart ???????
Can't wait & Fingers crossed..... Medford is gonna be 105° Saturday, 6-10% humidity.....oh, and SMOKY....yuck !

Thanks, we have a house on Tenmile Lake in Lakeside. It’s Smokey and breaking record temps in the 90’s.
We’re heading back in November. I hope Winchester Bay or The Umpqua will at least have a small coho run by then. I haven’t even heard of a big small mouth catch which is really common.
Just a bad year so far but crabbing has been pretty good.
Good luck to you and thank you for your reply.

They are catching some at Winchester, had 2 friends fishing there last week, limited 2 days in a row. 2nd day was tough they said, but when they found them, 2 limits in 45mins. I was at Charleston last week myself. 2 days on the ocean and my cousin and I both got limits. 1st day was for hours, 2nd day done by 9:30am. First day we’re bigger, 8 to 9lb fish(Coho) 2nd day half that size. 250’ to 300’ of water fishing about 20’ to 35’ deep. I did a post, ( Finaly got on the Ocean) but I’ll send I pic or two here. Good Luck

2nd day

I caught this 17.75 lb Coho in the bay at Winchester last weekend. Saw about three other boats reel in fish.

Made it outside of Winchester yesterday, pretty foggy, but caught 2 lost one and 2 limits of crab, it was a good time for sure. Caught the fish SW 250 - 300 ft of water showing 45 ft on the reel with 14 oz. The crab were south of the bar 45 -50 deep, chicken for bait, nice and full and great tasting.
