Hello, taking my dad out for the first time. Looking for some walleye. Any tips for lake Thompson SD? Probably vertical jig and do slip bobbers off point and reefs. Didn't know if anyone would be willing to share any tips? Minnows vs leech's, maybe depth to look for. Not looking to take anyone's spots or anything just something so I can put him on some fish!

Might want to take some night crawlers just in case.

There's a spot called West Bend that always holds walleye. We use bottom bouncers with a trailing spinner 3-4' behind it and use half a night crawler or a minnow hooked through its head. Depends on the day for the depth, so troll several depths to get an idea about where they are holding that day. Very early morning (right at sunrise) is the best action and after about 9:30, you'll have to work to find them.
