I just started surf fishing. My two spots are located Long Island NY.Shinnecock East and Moriches Inlet Smith Point Beach.I fished with my dad as a child off the Rockaway Bridge in Queens NY.Now I have a lot to learn on my own.All the fishing people here are all helpful and are willing to share tips. I’m holding my own.
Welcome aboard. I love surf fishing, although I don’t do it as often as I used to because I have a boat and spend a lot of time with that. I’m in southern NJ. I would recommend that you go online to thefisherman.com for tips and recent reports for your area. They publish a fret magazine specifically for several different areas in the northeast and the one for Long Island is excellent, they also have a weekly report on YouTube for each location. Another great source is Surfcasters Journal. John Skinner has a lot of videos on YouTube as well as books that he’s written. Visiting local bait and tackle shops and actually asking for info and chatting with folks will yield some good stuff. You are located in a surf fishing Mecca. I hope to read about your experiences and see some photos.
