Unfortunately, I reached that genetic diabetic age. I have been put on a very low cholesterol diet to try avoiding inseline. I am open to all suggestions for cooking without flour and breading. I have not tried almond flour yet, but my wife just picked some up for me. That goes for filet and whole fish. Thanks all

Bapa, I feel your pain. Thankfully there are many tasty ways to cook good healthy tasty meals that don't wreck havoc on your blood sugar levels. Wife and I have been on a mostly keto diet and are both feeling positive effects because of it.
Idk what your preferences are regarding fish species. Most fw firm meat fish can be cubed and added to seasoned (ol bay : ) ) boiling water for just a few minutes. The amount of seasoning can make it or break it.
We pan fry our fish also. Again, seasoning is important. Have some fun and be creative in the kitchen.
As mentioned by others, grilling and smoking cooks fish too. I use a gas grill with an aluminum tin under the grill rack and over the flames. Wet hardwood of choice and the smoke does its thing. Meat goes on the indirect side. Good stuff there when it's done.
ps.. WATCH OUT FOR FLAMES ! Don't want those.
I've smoked on a charcoal grill using the same method. Cauliflower and mushrooms. Bells and hot peppers. Onions and zukes. All smoked. Darn good eats!
Honey in coffee. Beet sugar in the lemonade. Careful there pal! Start with small amounts and see what works for you.
Back down on the corn beans and grains and increase the green leafy stuff and white cheeses.

Lots of tasty treats that I never make enough of.

You can do this dude!

I have FRIED FISH about once a year, at best. And that's usually "fish & chips" from a bar/nightclub that uses an air fryer and a rather light tempura-type batter...... says so on the menu.
And I eat fish in some form a minimum of 3 times a week, usually more.

Can't even fathom eating trout, salmon, tuna(fresh) or some kind of rockfish/whitefish/red snapper FRIED.
I must say, that many times the pics of fish dinners that are posted on this site do not look appetizing to me, in the least. So often I think....."Yeah, I COULD eat that, but I am gonna need to have some Tums handy afterwards".
I guess it's just a personal preference, but I have had breaded and fried fish at someone's house, and couldn't really taste....FISH..... because the breading and oil was overpowering any flavor the fish actually had.
I often figure that for those that eat bass (or even carp !) that's exactly WHY they fry...... they're eating BLAND FISH and NEED to give it some 'oomph' by throwing some spices in the batter mix.
Doesn't mean that I don't use some spices on my grilled, baked and smoked fish, just not very much (except garlic powder, of course ! But then, I also have a jar of garlic cloves marinating in GOOD olive juice in my fridge and eat them like candy....or exactly LIKE OLIVES..... garlic is excellent for your blood chemistry.....as are onions....both are vasodilators).
I even like poached fish on occasion, though the ex-wife took the actual "fish poacher"pan/lid, so I improvise. A Chardonnay or Rose' adds a nice flavor to an otherwise bland fish.
I add nothing but water if I am poaching salmon or trout.....IMHO, the two best-tasting fish on the planet.....I know, I know...... that's not an opinion shared by everyone.
Fine by me. Leaves MORE for me and my like-minded gourmands...lol.

If you must have fried fish, the air fryer is definitely the way to 'go healthy'. I have even had breaded oysters from an air fryer, and they were heavenly.
Good luck with whatever you decide to go with on your quest. Deepfrying or even shallow oil pan-fried, with any regularity, is rather detrimental to anyone's health and can be the source of many problems like cholesterol and blood pressure (though reducing the amount of SALT is even more critical for b.p.) fluctuations.
Stay healthy folks, please limit the amount of fried foods that WE ALL very much love, but know are not as good for us as we would prefer. We all want as many 'fishing days' for as long as is possible.

yea I feel your pain I'm in the same boat at first I just ate the protein and vegetables to lower the sugar level but to tell you the truth I don't like vegetables and got tired of all meat. I like fruits, and grain and found if (and I dont) stay on the diet some carbs and some fruits are OK so the breading on the fish fried, or air fried won't set you off to much but milk shakes cake and pies now that is a different story. rice seems to be just as bad, but I still have some once in a while in smaller quantities. for me at my age I just not willing to give up every thing, and I am waiting this while having an ice cream cone with my grandson๐Ÿ‘

This is a great recipe for my wife and me. Very lemony and great flavor. We have not tried it with any other fish than the cod, but you might try it with bass.

I also do a cedar plank salmon on the grill. I soak a cedar plank in water for about an hour before cooking. I cook it right over the burner on a high heat to make the plank smoke. Delicious.

Let us know what kind of fish you want to eat. I have more recipes.

I do all those, but I was hoping for more specifics as often appears on here for fried. My main go to is foil rapped with salt pepper, with or without Chayanne pepper and Mrs. Dash. Then thrown, a few minute each side bit on the grill. All eatable fish is good that way, but variety is the "spice" of life. Thanks for the input. P.S. I am not a big fan of poached but willing tp try something new. Most of my food fish is sole and sand dabs or about the size of large crappie but a bit thinner. I fix both full body fish for myself and filets for my wife and I.
