Hook setting techniques

Hi all! Got a Lil backstory for ya followed by a question. BTW, this is brought to you by Betts dream !

Shortly after graduating hs, I joined the US conue club and was assigned to an airbase in San Diego CA. I was quickly introduced to charter party boats and went out OFTEN. Now, coming from a small fish community I had not learned how to properly set a set. So after years of salt fishing the kelp beds for bass, rays, Bonita, Dorado and the like, I learned the importance of a powerful hook set.
Fast fwd to discharge and back home, bass fishing the lakes in west central Ohio, I got many unintended laughs, a few glares, and was asked alot "what the he'll was that?!?!?" whenever I felt the tug and did a salty setting on the many 1-2lb bass in the area. I still chuckle!
But...the weirdest thing that has happened the most is being asked "did you get it?" ....by my wife when she's waking me up after setting the hook on a "dream" fish while sleeping! I've ruined a couple night stand lights, dislocated a finger, busted a headboard and hurt myself too many times to count by setting the hook while sleeping!
So...my question to you, my fellow Stagers...have you ever set the hook while sleeping? If you have, include a little narrative on the end result. Have fun and tight lines!

Hahahaha! Great story! I dream about fishing occasionally after watching a Youtube video of "Hey Skipper!" This guy, his dad, wife and friends, video themselves always catch lots of fish! Take a look at the video, you'll love what they do, it will make you dream!

N ver entered my dreams. Maybe because I have more than four hook setting techniques.
1) crank set with circle hooks. A favorite of mine on salt water live bait.
2) your power is between the shoulders. So set the hook between the shoulders when worm fishing between the shoulders where your power is.
3) side sweep to take up line on a Carolina rig. It's the fastest way with a Carolina rig to set a hook.
4) reverse load set on bedding fishing. Drop the rod below 90° from perpendicular tip reeling in line til tight and set between the shoulders. Drives the hook hard enough to turn the head of a monster female bass in a tube jig
5) trick worm hook set . This is different in many aspects. When a fish hits a trick worm it moves in a different direction. So you point the rod in that direction reel up slack then set the hook between the Shou as you square up with the fish.

I dream of fishing quite often. Many times when I wake up the dream doesn’t make a lot of sense. Last night I was dreaming of how to bait a hook with a whole fish that has artificial fly material on it. I am not sure if it has to do with my last Salt water fishing trip or the fishing next week with fellow Fishingstage buddies.
