Illinois Fishing

I recently started fishing again and I'm hooked. This picture is from Saturday August 27 at Lake Marie. I live in Burbank, Illinois. I'm looking for preferably catfish spots. Any big cats in the harbors along the lakefront? Lincoln park lagoon? Since the salmon are running I'll probably give that a shot at those places as well. Any recommendations would be gladly appreciated wether it's along Lake Michigan or other other spots.

TIA. Happy Fishing. Straight Lines.

Great catch! My wife and i have been fishing Lake Marie and all we have been catching are channel cats. It kind of make me think that is the only fish in that lake. My wife caught a 9 lb. catfish on Thursday night. Where are all the other species?

Lake Calumet, which is on the southeast side of Chicago has been listed as having a good flathead population in addition to the channel cats in the lake and river system. For Lake Michigan proper, look at fishing in the harbor areas where fishing is appropriate. You can get into a mixed bag of fish in the harbors at this time of year. The Lagoon may also be a good spot.

Welcome Aboard and Tight Lines!
