Got out of the heat of Palm Springs and Havasu (110-115* plus humidity!) I headed to Prescott for 3 days with my 10' kayak. Fishing was slow at 3 different lakes as the water was stained from monsoons and no one catching rainbows or largemouth. I got a small largemouth the 1st day at Watson Lake on a square bill.
It was so nice, hi of 85* each day and got dn in the 60's at night. Our lows in Palm Springs at 5 am have been running low 90's!
Enjoy the rock formations at Watson! The turtle sunning himself is at Goldwater Lake.

WOW Langer 115°AND Humid, I'd be getting out of Dodge too. Sorry you didn't find many fish, but 30° cooler and being on the water would be enough for me. Beautiful pictures and lakes, thanks for sharing.

Willow Lake in Prescott is better for catching bass. I don’t remember ever getting skunked when fishing there. Goldwater is good for rainbow most of the time. Watson gets fished out pretty quickly once it’s stocked. But any day on the water is a good day. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

I went to Willow Lake once last summer and it was so full of weeds you couldn't launch a kayak let alone try to fish it. Never went back but in asking the locals if any rainbows had been stocked n the area, the answer was no. So I was casting for bass a few hours a day but have done well for rainbows past seasons. The weeds weren't bad at the 3 lakes I fished so maybe Willow is ok but the water temps were high.

Langer .... 80's & 60's... that's the ticket. NOT 115 & Stick Ugh ! Great photos, the turtle pix is absolutely stunning & perfectly composed, and all have beautiful color. I'm curious, are these from a phone or a camera? If phone shots, would ya mind telling us which mfg. & model ? I'm gonna upgrade eventually, and would enjoy getting better images. The phone I have now sux so badly that I don't even use it for taking photos.
Just keep fishin' man, they're gonna get hungry sometime.....

Good morning Nutz, it's a phone which is 2 yrs old by Samsung. I cracked the screen on a drop or two and it's getting so bad I need to replace it and will get a similar one. Thanks.

Escaped Ramona, CA late last year to Prescott. Absolutely love it here. So many lakes, ponds and rivers close by and cooler climate. Best move I've ever made!

Hey Grammy, we're in the midst of selling our house in Palm Springs and have rented a very nice house in Lake Havasu. Very similar climate but we'll only be there for the Fall months. We love Prescott and the town is very well planned with streets and highways seem to be built for future growth. The lakes are quite small but still nice for a kayak. The housing is still way overpriced for me, maybe higher than Cali but may be priced better in a few years.

Ha! Depends on where in California you are selling! Anyway, yes, homes here have gone up in price by about 30% since we moved here. It will level out though. The lakes are smaller, but we do catch. Had a 4 lb cat last weekend at Goldwater.
