It was a glorious day to be fishing, cool, low humidity, light breeze, water starting to cool off, 78°-80°. Notice I said fishing, and not catching. Very slow bite today, first 3 spots, nothing but nibblers. Had to hit the brush pile for my skunkbuster, and big fish of the day 1.75lbs. Devan wasn't having any luck either. I hit 4 deep spots and had a few weak hits on the dropshot, but no solid hits, probably more panfish. Marked a lot of bait schools but only rare solitary bigger fish. Couldn't get any to bite. Devan got to explore the lake a little and try out his new fishfinder. On the return pass back to the north end, I hit one more off a tree near the brush pile and Devan busted his skunk with a nice Gill. I think he really likes the lake and the speed limit, so no idiots on the water. Actually it was crowded today, maybe 8 or 10 boats.
Dtcombs (Devan) in his inflatable sport fisherman.

Thanks Mark, it was beautiful out there. Yeah it's a nice rig, and the same length as mine. The only drawback is setup and breakdown time. I think I convinced him to look into a trailer. He has a set of wheels on the transom, so he can launch at lakes and ponds with no ramp. But for lakes with a ramp, a trailer would be excellent.

Weather same here as well Fred, absolutely, without a doubt the finest weather day of summer. Fished a decent sized glacial lake in NJ (500 acres) that could easily be used by annoying outboards and jet skis but is electric only, just perfect. Water temp. was 74* in the morning and rose to 78 by the time we left around 3:30. Told my buddy that any fish today would be a bonus to the gorgeous day.

I just got caught up and saw your post Brad. Nice job. Every day should be like today. Did you get your trolling motor remounted?

Thanks Terry, yeah I can't wait to buy my next boat, which will be a Bass Boat. Then all the rods and tackle stay in the boat. It only takes me about 5 or 10 minutes to load up now, but that's still too long LOL.

Yeah, a trailer and a trolling motor would make it a perfect boat.
