Hello All. As the title says I am in the market for a new bait caster. I currently have a cheap Abu Garcia one that you buy at Walmart and looking to get a nicer one. My budget is up to $200. I fish for mostly bass in the east coast. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance!

If there is any wiggle at all in that $200, I’d absolutely get a Shimano Curado DC. I own Abu’s, Lew’s, and a few more Shimano, but I’ve bought two now because they’re so hassle free.

If you are stuck to that $200, the Shimano Curado K is also an incredible reel, you just miss out on the digital braking system.

Went with the Curado DC. Couldn’t wait for the new Shimano to come out in September.

Great choice, my man.

Truly the best reel I’ve owned. Never had any issues with either of the two that I own.

I personally really love my revo x for all around jigs and soft plastic poles but they make a higher end model from that that is called the revo SX for 159.95$ and it is really smooth too. But like I said that’s just my opinion. I fish a lot of tournaments and that would be my go to! Hope it helps!!! Tight lines, Mitch.

Right now I use a berkly lighting rod and then a Cabela or bass pro rod. One is medium heavy one is heavy and I jig and worm with them just because they were laying around. I think they are around 6’8” But next one I buy will be a st croix mojo or bassx series. I love st croix and my fishing team is sponsored by them! So I would have to go with them!

Yeah I’m no pro just a college angler haha but I got a six Gill reel recently and I learned that they are really good for cranks! You can throw them for a mile. Like literally the farthest casting reel I’ve ever owned!

I'll be buried with my Ambassadeurs or possibly will them out to somebody. They last forever. The only other reel that lasts as long is the Calcutta. Sure they're big and bulky but you only have to buy them once. The jury is still out on low profile reels, but sadly with the majority replacement parts are gone like a fart in the wind once the manufacturer stops producing them.

Obligatory suggestion for the Daiwa Tatula SV. It’s a great all purpose reel with a very user friendly braking system.
