I know the Midwest, the Gulf Coast, and part of the Eastern States have plenty of rain. How about the rest of you guys? What is happening in the Lake Mead area?
No moisture relief here fly. Lakes are low and the State has been promoting water conservation with mandatory rules going into effect mid September.

We're getting about normal amount of rain here but it comes in big doses. I think It was Wednesday night I had set a 5 gallon bucket out on the deck and next morning it had almost 5" of water in it. Nothing funneling water just straight down rain. The Airport in Huntsville, about 50 miles away, that night recorded a trace so it just depends where you are in our area.
Just what is a "popcorn flatus" ?
Well, the rain which was forecasted to start at 1:00 started on the 7th hole, around 9am. By the time we got to the clubhouse (for a rain check) the roof, gutters and steps leading into the Pro Shop looked like Victoria Falls. Good thing I was playing with a buddy from South Africa. Oh well, maybe next weekend?
Nice job on the forecast (as well as the radar) a$$hole$!!!
The waterfall off the roof as we got to the clubhouse.
Not mine! Apparently someone ahead of us must have had a worse start than ours!

The short answer would be the gas emitted from the colon out through your anus.

That is not a good thing, John. The clubhouse looks a little damp around the edges.
Extremely dry here, excessive heat, not a very enjoyable summer!

I understand "flatus"...a gas produced by the act of digestion, its act of being released.... flatulence, but what is "popcorn flatus" ?
Do you actually fart DIFFERENTLY when you eat popcorn ? Really ? Thank goodness I don't have such a malady. Considering the # of replies, it must be a widespread occurrence.......my condolences to you all and your digestive tracts.
I guess I will count my blessings that I have never heard of this distinction. Not even, that I can recall, in George Carlin's classic on his "different kinds" of farts... hehehe......get/stay well, folks.

The term is used when something is extremely dry. As if popcorn could fart it would be extremely dry.
So it wasn't a reference to human eating habits, but now an inanimate food product is imaginatively perceived to be able to flatulate..... I'm out, y'all are......?????("thumper rule", for sure)
