Hello all ! Looking forward to being a part
Of this group. Grew up fishing with my Daddy off Garden City, SC Pier and trolling for flounder in Murrells Inlet, SC. I love fishing with a Zebco reel(old habits are hard to break) but haven’t been trolling for flounder in too many years to count . Now live in Upstate SC but have a place at Pawleys Island to come down to visit. Semi-retired nurse and planning time in October to hopefully catch some spots. I’ll be down the end of September as well and will spend some time fishing if spots are running .
Lena..... Welcome to the Stage. There must be something special about Murrells Inlet, a bunch of people I know from Connecticut have relocated there. Glad ya decided to join up here, it's a great place for fishing tips, and much more as well. Hope you enjoy the site. Fresh and Saltwater anglers both contribute their fishing, catching, and pictures for all of our mutual interest. Both genders represented here and we all get along nicely for the most part. For those that prefer non fishing related subjects there is the chit chat section, and the Attic, which is mostly political content, and can get a bit raw. If you prefer to not participate in the Attic commentary, you can choose to opt out of recieving it when your Digest is sent. I personally kinda like it, but it often goes well beyond family friendly subjects.
Based on your introduction, I'd guess you will enjoy the reports and pix of members fishing with their Kids and Grandkids, and Great Grandkids too. It always bings me back to happy times to see this content.
Good luck with your fishing, and please stay in touch. * nutz *

Thank you all so much ! I grew up in Dillon in the Pee Dee area and did fishing there too at Pee Dee State Park with a bamboo pole. This picture is whenever I took the grandkids pier fishing in July. Only caught 4 little ones . While I now live in the Upstate SC, I’ve not done much fishing at Jocassee .
I look forward to hearing about all the adventures here and seeing pictures !

Welcome aboard Lena. We have a few from Murrells Inlet but Bucky Buckner is the most active on this site. Give him a PM if you need any info.
Welcome to FS, Lena.
My favorite reel is a Zebco Bullet! If you haven’t used one, try it out.

When you refer to catching some spots, would that be Spot fish or locations?

Spot fish they taste great. They are a small saltwater fish. They usually run (on the Carolina coast anyway) once the weather turns cooler late September/October . They are named Spots because is the spot located behind the gills. I attached a picture.
I know them well. I am in southeast Virginia. They are indeed delicious. Are you finding bait for them?

I’ve just always used shrimp or whatever they suggest to me at the pier. Yes you probably have a better supply of spots than we do. They are my favorite fish to eat.
Bloodworm is popular here but they are not always available.
