I fish in the Roanoke rapids lake of N.C .
My name is Jim, It's a very nice lake lots of bass . Very difficult to fish off of dock. It seems to be hit or miss. Any pointers?

Welcome to the Stage Jim. You know what they say, 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. If the dock isn't in the 10%, life will be tough. You can try reaction type topwater baits, like Whopperploppers, Buzzbaits, Jitterbugs, or Poppers. They attract the fish's attention with the commotion the make. These baits usually work better early in the morning, or early in the evening. That's when Bass roam around looking for easy meals, in lower light conditions.Once the sun gets higher in the sky, they return to their hangouts for the day. Good luck and Tight Lines.
Fishing any large lake from the dock or bank can be limiting. I fish Roanoke Rapids Lake at least once a year. It’s a good lake especially when they release water from the dam at Roanoke Rapids. It’s extremely shallow in the middle especially below the Gaston dam. Which end of the lake have you been fishing?
