Arctic Coastal Fishing

Hey guys, I am looking for pointers on techniques, baits and fish that would be targeted of the coast in the Arctic.

I am going on a month long trip up north with the ship I work on and we were allowed to bring our fishing gear.

All of my buddies are super pumped, but none of us ever fished up north, so none of us as any clue at what the heck to do. I am asking for pointers on what fish can be targeted up there as well as what lures and techniques should be used.

I've been looking quite a bit online before turning to you guys but most of the stuff I found is all river fly fishing for Arctic Char or Salmons.

I am from Eastern Canada, I go out on the daily for Bass in lakes but I know nothing about salt water fishing.

Asking for a friend,

Thanks guys.

for rivers, bring blue fox spinners for salmon and char, for off the boat or rocky coastline bring your heavy bass rod with .5-2 oz jigheads and bottom bounce them in along deep water near the shoreline or bottom bounce off the boat over structure. if you want to use bait I would use a drop shot style setup and squid or cut herring for bait with 1 to 5 oz weights depending on depth.

I forgot on those Jake heads use white pink or bright green swim baits. If you have any that are blue those are killer cause they mimic herring

Sounds like a fun trip. Mind if I ask what you do? I assume it's not a fishing vessel maybe research?
