I’m new here. Want to fish in salt and fresh water but have no idea where to go. Any recommendations?

I'm a long way from FL but i would recommend visiting a local tackle shop. They will know the questions to ask and are in the best position to get you started.
Try Woods and Water magazine, listen to local TV and Radio fishing reports. Try local tackle shops. Many write reports and Cary guide business cards. Don't try online reviews of guides as many are BS posted by friends and family if they are all 4.0 s be leary

Thursday issue of Sarasota Herald-Tribune has a fishing report in the sports section that includes that area. Might want to pick up a copy. Tight lines.
I live in Port Charlotte .
Find a good bait shop get some live shrimp and ask them where and when to fish it.
They want you to catch fish.
They also like a nice tip$$.
Good luck tell us how you do.
They will give you guidance on the right tackle and how to rig it.
Just about any pond you can access will hold large mouth bass. The north and south jetties are good salt water spots. If you have a kayak or small boat the intercoastal around Blackburn point is good. Salt water is seasonal - different fish different times of the year.
I usually catch something when I go out to the Venice jetty. Lately small fish, but I caught my PB Snook and Redfish off the jetty.
