Hi Steve. I've only fished Gardner once, last year. My buddy and I did ok on the north side of Minnie Island (the deep side). We also picked up a few skipping a weightless Dingers around the docks on the east shore up by the campground. Good luck and don't forget to post some pictures.
Thanks Fred, I am hoping to get out there Sunday. If I make it I’ll post with pics for sure - assuming I don’t get skunked!!
Update: there are tournaments at Gardner all weekend, a definite no for me!

Yeah, I didn't check the schedule, sorry. Next week looks clear for you.

K S .... An alternative to Gardner might be kayak friendly Horse Pond, also in Salem. Small parking and primitive launch areas right on Rte. 85. I haven't been by there but suspect the water level is OK. there's a small brook that feeds it on the south end, but that always is dry by around the 4th of July, and there is a spring on the north side by the large boulder just off the bank. Some decent LM bass in there, and plenty of panfish, as well as a few holdover trout from DEEP stockings.Oh yeah, pickerel too.
Could be worth a looksee.
Thanks Nutz, I’ve wondered about that little pond. I think I am going to hit Mansfield Hollow tomorrow but will do Horse eventually. Tight lines.
